Papyrus

Egyptian morning with my husband

Awake after the deepest sleep

Like a Mummy with her daddy

Catacomb sarcophagus

Buried deep in sheets of sea

Papillion white layered chrysalis

Memory’s pointbreak surfer

rides the waves over her red admiral

(To die a death together and wake together)

A little death and life together

You prefer paper to china

Wolfing down the dark black magic

We drink ourselves to life

Semi-comatose addicts

Leading players in our marriage

A strong one like the coffee

A thousand sleeps have led me here

Older, slower, lashed by ancient pain

My heart’s valve is now released

Fragile as papyrus near the flame

Ashen white lady awoken from the Big Sleep
